That Ahh Feeling

After days of humid weather with the daily treat of showers and thundershowers, we now enter a mostly dry stretch. The only glitch in a dry story-line is more clouds with a "cannot rule out" shower mention Tuesday. Temperatures will be below seasonal averages through Wednesday. Warmth and humidity increase in the second half of the week along with a ramp up of PM thundershower coverage.

We are finishing work on the 2018 Blue Ridge Parkway Calendar and hope to have it to the printer by early July with calendars available mid/late July. However like the last couple years, many photos, 50-60, from the Parkway will appear in the calendar. Click here for the winning photos.

Saturday - Partly to mostly cloudy; Scattered PM showers and t-showers; High in the upper 70s; Low near 60 degrees

Forecast Discussion

The front that moved through Saturday is slowly moving southeast off the Atlantic Coast and into the Gulf of Mexico. In it's place, high pressure from the northwest takes control with less humid air. A secondary front moves through Monday with a reinforcing show of drier/cooler air. Enjoy two near-perfect days!

A band of moisture sneaks southeast in the northwesterly flow Monday night and Tuesday. It will add clouds, and we cannot rule out a passing shower Tuesday.

Wednesday is another near-perfect weather day with high pressure in control of the Southeast.

In the second half of the week, in typical summer fashion, the Bermuda high is resurrected extending into the Southeast U. S. Front will be blocked well to our west and north; however, warmth and humidity increase. The result will be a gradual ramp up of afternoon/evening thundershower coverage. A renegade afternoon thundershower is not impossible Thursday (but coverage is too small to mention in the forecast box), "widely scattered" Friday, and "scattered" (more) Saturday. The typical summer dodge-ball with afternoon convection will continue right through the 4th of July Holiday.
