Forecast Discussion

A relatively fast west-to-east wind flow presides over the Carolinas this weekend. There won’t be a lot of impetus for showers and thunderstorms until a front moves through Monday morning. We will have to watch for action developing over the Tennessee Valley and heading eastward into our mountains in this fairly fast June steering flow.

As the front approaches, probably the best weekend rainfall opportunity will be late Sunday into early Monday. Relatively drier air arrives for Tuesday, before we see another surge of moisture arriving for the middle part of next week.

Beyond Wednesday, a resurgence of the Bermuda High will put us in a pure summertime weather regime for the end of next week. Look for a good deal of sunshine, very warm temperatures and hit-and-run thundershowers during the afternoon and early evening periods.
