The High Country Ski Club is a new club offering two free passes to App Ski Mountain as well as a pro night hosted by Extreme Ski and Snowboard, all for only a $20 membership fee.

Watauga County Public Library will close for four days over Thanksgiving.
HIDEThe Watauga County Public Library in Boone will be closed for four consecutive days for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Library will be closed on Thursday, November 26th (Thanksgiving Day); Friday, November 27th; Saturday, November 28th; and Sunday, November 29th (as is usual for Sundays). Western Watauga Branch Library will also be closed on these days. The Library will reopen on Monday, November 30th. Happy Thanksgiving wishes from all the Staff of Watauga County Public Library!

Grace Academy Chili Cook-off and Raffle on Friday, December 4th at 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. No shortage of fun! From raffle items, children's activities, silent auction items and, of course, chili sampling.
HIDEThere’s a chill in the air! Chili lovers around town will want to mark their calendars for an event on December 4. Chili makers are tweaking their recipes, bringing out the crock pots, and hoping to delight the judges with award-winning recipes. Prizes will be awarded for the top contendors and the public is invited to cheer on their favorites and partake in a whole evening of fun activities!
Grace Academy’s first Chili Cook-Off will be held on Friday, December 4th from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Boone United Methodist Church. Judging will take place at the start of the event after which public serving will commence.
There will be no shortage of fun! Bid on some exciting items during the silent auction. Win raffle prizes that include many gift certificates to town businesses. Send the children to their very own low priced raffles and activities. And, of course, enjoy delicious chili made by individual contestants and area businesses!
Tickets are $5 per individual or $20 per immediate family. Tickets can be purchased on Monday and Wednesday mornings at Living Water Christian Fellowship next to the Boone Bowling Center, from a Grace Academy parent, or in limited availability at the door.

Humane Society of Wilkes Pet Adoption Fair, Saturday, November 21
HIDEThe Humane Society of Wilkes will hold a Pet Adoption Fair at Lowe's Home Improvement, US Hwy 421 W, Wilkesboro, Saturday, November 21, from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm. Animals that are currently being fostered will be available for adoption. Adoption fees include vet exam, worming, rabies shot and spay or neuter. Pet related items will be for sale. HIDE Ensemble Stage Auditions for "Christmas in Blowing Rock"
Blowing Rock’s new professional theatre, Ensemble Stage, announces auditions for the upcoming Christmas Show, Christmas in Blowing Rock. They are looking for children ages 6-14 with good singing voices, men and women ages 18-60 with good singing voices and acting skills.
HIDEBoone auditions are scheduled for November 22, 5:30-8:00 at Chapel Wilson Hall in room 111 on the ASU campus. Chapell Wilson Hall is the stone building next to the ASU Library, behind the Valborg Theatre and is easily accessible from King St, room 111,is right off of the main hallway, and is on the second floor. There is only minimum amount of parking available at Chapell Wilson, but the Library parking deck (behind the Library and next to Chapell Wilson) will be open.
Blowing Rock auditions are scheduled for November 23, 5:30-8:00, location TBA.
Performance dates are December 18th and 19th.
Adults, Please prepare a Christmas Song or Carol to sing a cappella (without accompaniment)
Children/Student Auditions: You do not need to prepare a song, you will be given a piece of a Christmas Song to sing at the auditions. We are also looking for one girl age 6-14, who can dance a short solo ballet or modern dance piece.

The members of the Native American Council are planning a reprise of their presentation from last year, including tipi set up, bracelets with beads, traditional food (fry bread, apple cider), story telling, and dancing, and perhaps more and different features from Native American cultures! If so, please join members of the Blue Ridge Fiber Guild on Saturday, November 21 to celebrate her teaching and share stories about her class. Please bring any weavings you have that were made in her class. The meeting is held at the Western Watauga Community Center's weaving room at 9:30 am.
