On Sunday, September 5th.(10am-4pm)in the meadow across from Town Hall. Free kites given to the first 200 kids along with a certificate signed by the mayor that they have flown a mile high kite. Refreshments and craft vendors will add to the festivities. Those arriving on Saturday, September 4 can take part in a free kite making workshop and kite makers competition (2pm-4pm). Dance in the street at the free all-ages street dance Saturday night from 7pm-9pm. Town hall parking lot.

The Extension and Community Association (formerly Extension Homemakers) are sponsoring a wreath making contest. Use your imagination and express your creativity by making a wreath out of almost anything. There are two categories, one for youth under 18 years and one for adults. It costs $2.00 to enter and first prize is $35.00, second prize $20.00 and third prize $10.00. Bring your wreath by NC Cooperative Extension, 971 West King St, on Friday, September 24th to be judged. The judged wreaths will be on display at the Agricultural Conference Center, 252 Poplar Grove Rd, on Saturday, September 25th, 10 until noon. Wreath makers will have the option of selling their wreath. Light refreshments provided on Saturday and the public is invited to view wreaths.

This class is appropriate for beginners as well as experienced yoga students. The instructor, Akal Dev Sharonne, has been a yoga practitioner and teacher for more than 30 years. Her classes are a delightful blend of humor, challenge and wisdom. The cost of the 12-week session is $60.00 per person. Additionally, the total resources must be limited to $12,510 for an individual ($25,010 for a married couple living together). The resources do not include a primary residence or a vehicle.
